Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in San Antonio, Texas. This role will be pivotal in managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to the overall financial stability of the organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise and a detail-oriented approach, particularly within the financial services sector.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

- Perform detailed reconciliations of general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries as needed.

- Support budgeting and forecasting activities to aid in strategic financial planning.

- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and organizational policies.

- Collaborate with auditors by providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries during internal and external audits.

- Conduct variance analyses to identify discrepancies and recommend actionable solutions.

- Work closely with cross-departmental teams to enhance accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.

- Handle regulatory reporting and filings to maintain compliance with applicable laws and standards. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

- A minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally within a financial institution or credit union.

- Comprehensive understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software; experience with credit union systems is advantageous.

- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage priorities in a dynamic environment.

- CPA certification or progress toward CPA accreditation is preferred.

- Experience in preparing financial reports specifically for credit unions is a plus.
