POSITION SUMMARYThis position collaborates closely with MPL’s Operations Center, MPLX Business Development, and operational support teams across both Gathering & Processing and Logistics & Storage. The successful candidate will contribute to pressure control, system optimization, and leak detection efforts, while also providing technical support to field personnel and control room operations.
In addition to day‑to‑day responsibilities, the engineer will play a key role in evaluating pipeline expansion opportunities and developing conceptual designs for new business ventures—efforts that directly impact the performance and growth of MPLX. The position regularly involves participation in high‑visibility projects and offers opportunities for cross‑functional collaboration.
Stakeholder engagement includes coordination with internal teams such as MPL Operations, Logistics, Business Development, Process Engineering, and Project Engineering groups. The role also offers career development through structured department training and the use of standardized tools and analysis practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform hydraulic analyses to evaluate the capacity of existing pipeline configurations and develop logical expansion strategies. Scope includes sizing of pumps, motors, control valves, relief systems, and associated piping.
- Apply pressure control processes to recommend setpoints that prevent over pressure and ensure safe, reliable pipeline operations. Review and approve pressure control setpoint change notifications submitted by other Hydraulics Engineers.
- Provide daily technical support to operating teams to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of MPLX’s pipeline systems.
- Ensure quality and compliance by reviewing engineering calculations, maintaining pressure control integrity, and verifying that regulatory documentation meets compliance and technical standards.
- Support after‑hours operations on a rotating basis, providing assistance with leak detection and hydraulics‑related issues.
Grade : 11 – 13, depending on qualifications and level of experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; chemical or mechanical preferred.
- Four (4) years of related experience required.
