Fire Alarm Project Designer – San Antonio, TX

We need a full-time Project Designer to design, engineer and document installed physical security and life safety solutions with moderate to high complexity.

Responsibilities:

• Design assistance from development to as‑built.
• Work on projects of varying complexity.
• Obtain electronic plans and create engineered drawings (AutoCAD, etc.).
• Create record drawings and O&M manuals.
• Maintain Convergint design, documentation, and submittal standards.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards, codes, and AHJ requirements.
• Participate in internal design review meetings and project turnover meetings.
• Prepare and procure project material purchases.
• Obtain and facilitate all project permits.
• Communicate design progress, dates, scope revisions, and costs to Project Managers.
• Perform change‑order work with proper authorization and assist pricing.
• Participate in site surveys or walkthroughs.
• Prepare submittal packages and revise as required for approval.
• Provide operational support for the sales phase when needed.
• Train and guide other designers, if required.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

• Excellent Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Customer focus, initiative, analytical thinking.
• Education:
  
  College degree, trade school or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years in engineering, field service, or project management.
• AutoCAD experience.
• NICET Level III.
• APS for Stamping Plans.
• Preferred:
  Experience in electronic, fire alarm & life safety, building automation, healthcare.
