Civil CAD Designer III

Overview

Ardurra is seeking an experienced Senior CAD Designer III to join our Public Works team in San Antonio, TX!

This role supports municipal utility and infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on water, wastewater, sanitary sewer, force mains, and storm drainage systems serving treatment facilities and municipal systems.

Ardurra is a multidisciplinary civil engineering services firm delivering practical, innovative solutions to public-sector clients. Our San Antonio team works closely with San Antonio Water System (SAWS), the City of San Antonio, and other local agencies on critical public infrastructure projects that directly impacts over two million members of the San Antonio and surrounding community!

• Prepare advanced civil design drawings for municipal water, wastewater, sanitary sewer, force mains, and storm drainage systems, including plan-and-profile sheets, details, and quantities
• Develop design deliverables using GEOPAK and Open Roads Designer, primarily for utility, conveyance, and drainage infrastructure (AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus)
• Apply SAWS and City of San Antonio standards and design criteria; limited TxDOT coordination as required
• Support the preparation of plan and profile drawings informed by hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses provided by engineering staff
• Coordinate utility layouts with existing infrastructure, drainage systems, and limited roadway elements as needed
• Provide technical guidance and quality control review for junior designers and drafters
• Interface with project engineers, project managers, and municipal clients to support project delivery
• Assist with constructability reviews, quantity takeoffs, estimates, and preparation of technical documents
• Maintain CAD standards, file organization, and data integrity throughout the project lifecycle

• High school diploma or equivalent required;
  Associate's degree or Technical Certificate preferred
• 8-10+ years of total related experience, with 5-7 years of design experience is strongly preferred
• Strong emphasis on municipal utility and public works projects
• Demonstrated experience supporting SAWS or similar municipal water/wastewater agencies strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Micro Station, GEOPAK and/or Open Roads Designer for utility, sanitary sewer, and drainage design
• Working understanding of H&H concepts as they relate to utility and storm drainage design
• Strong understanding of municipal utility standards and public works design practices
• Ability to work independently and provide mentorship to junior technical staff
