Operating Engineer – JLL
The Operating Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining JLL's facility operations through expert technical knowledge and hands‑on equipment management. This position focuses on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across all building systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. As an Operating Engineer, you will demonstrate technical expertise in one specialized craft area while maintaining multi‑skilled capabilities across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and central utility plant operations.
Your work directly contributes to JLL's commitment to delivering exceptional facility management services and maintaining world‑class operational standards for our clients.
- Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems
- Maintain facility services through preventative maintenance programs, purchasing, and inventory control management
- Clean, inspect, calibrate, and replace parts on HVAC systems and associated equipment to ensure optimum performance levels
- Record equipment readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation
- Review monthly client service request summaries to identify and correct recurrent operational problems
- Evaluate vendors and suppliers regularly for quality and competitive pricing
- Monitor maintenance work performed by outside contractors for quality and pricing compliance
- Technical expertise in at least one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations)
- Multi‑skilled capabilities across various building systems and equipment
- Knowledge of safety protocols for hazardous materials storage, usage, and disposal
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs and procedures
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex facility equipment
- Strong understanding of building codes and operational standards
- Physical ability to perform hands‑on maintenance and repair work
- Additional certifications in multiple craft areas beyond primary expertise
- Experience with inventory control and purchasing processes
- Vendor management and contractor oversight experience
- Knowledge of facility management software and reporting systems
- Experience in commercial or industrial facility operations
