Job Title:
Assembly Technician
We are seeking a passionate and highly‑motivated Assembly Technician to join our Final Assembly Production Engineering Department. In this role, you will provide technical and skilled support to our Assembly Final Assembly Engineering team, including design/drawing reviews, buyoff support, installation, commissioning, and equipment start‑up support.
Responsibilities- Review equipment specifications and design, identify improvements, and conduct vendor buyoffs to confirm equipment functions.
- Install equipment and verify safety, quality, and productivity.
- Investigate and determine modification requirements, implement modifications, trial, and adjust.
- Lower cost and decrease project time by confirming safety, quality, and productivity of equipment at vendor sites prior to installation.
- Minimize adjustment time during vehicle trials by performing quality trials at vendor sites.
- Oversee installation by vendor and facilitate the kanban process.
- Improve equipment quality and productivity by implementing adjustments during online vehicle trials.
- Confirm quality results using secondary methods such as torque checks and vacuum profiles.
- Install, set up, and troubleshoot various program controllers.
- Provide training to maintenance members on newly implemented equipment.
- Share subject matter expertise with local NAMC Maintenance and Production members.
- Travel up to 50% of the time, including international travel to Japan, Canada, and Mexico.
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills (Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, or Allen‑Bradley) with at least 2 years of experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of PLCs, electrical circuits, and industrial controls with at least 2 years of experience.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including international travel.
- Ability to work up to 30% overtime when required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching on varying surfaces.
- Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Good vision and hand–eye coordination for detailed repairs.
- Ability to work in various environments including hot, cold, or confined spaces.
Skills & Qualifications
- Work with the laser weld OEM and commissioning team to ensure that laser weld lines are designed and installed per Toyota’s specifications.
- Support Siemens PLC and Servo programming efforts.
- Learn and understand laser weld and Stamping equipment setup and programming methods then provide training to others on modification procedures.
- Document standard operating procedures.
- Communicate effectively with Project Management and Maintenance technicians.
- Support shop floor trouble shooting and Kaizen implementing.
This role is part of a collaborative and respectful environment where innovation and high‑quality solutions are at the forefront. The position requires on‑site work for a 20‑month contract, with the possibility of travel up to 50% of the time, including international travel. Safety gear, such as steel toe boots, is required. The work involves project‑based assignments, typically lasting 9–18 months, with travel to designated NAMC projects.

This is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 – $35.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
