Distribution Design Engineer - Mid Level (NON IT RELATED)

This role is responsible for GPS surveys, locating overhead and underground lines, performing inspections, and documenting power distribution, among other related tasks, contributing to a variety of electric distribution design projects. The Distribution Design Specialist will also be instrumental in completing design tasks for electric and utility projects, drafting engineering calculations, validating easements, estimating cost, and developing permit packages. The person will use GIS to update or resolve conflicts and ensure accuracy and efficiency.
They will manage multiple projects simultaneously for timely completion. This position reports to the Director of Systems Engineering.
- Project Management:
Translate and implement infrastructure strategies at the local level, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives; serve as the liaison between local teams, providing insights and feedback. - GIS Coordination:
Supervise internal GIS functions and subcontractors; continuously update and maintain accurate GIS data; manage GIS‑related engineering and development tasks. - Process Improvement:
Collaborate to improve internal process maps and Terra Go workflows; establish continuous improvement and innovation processes. - Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with cross‑functional teams (R&D, operations, marketing, sales) to align engineering initiatives with business strategies. - Quality Control & Compliance:
Ensure system and process outputs meet rigorous quality standards, comply with contract metrics, and align with environmental sustainability goals. - Establish processes for continuous improvement and innovation.
- Experience with underground and overhead utilities.
- Experience in the utility industry.
- GIS experience.
- Knowledge of (plus).
- Experience with Miro platform.
- Mac Book experience.
- 2–4 years of utility industry experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Design Engineering or related field.
