Summary
Our client is an established construction company looking for a candidate whois a Mid-Level Roadway Estimator to assist in estimating in areas of
roadway, heavy civil, and highway bridge projects. Estimating tasks will be hard bid estimates toinclude concrete and asphalt paving, road widening, drainage lines, road reconstruction, bridgework, and dirt work. This position will work closely with Sr Estimator, Project Owners, Vendors,Subcontractors, Project Managers, Accounting and the Chief Estimator. Bids are typically from $5
Million to $30 million for projects in the San Antonio, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Houston areas.

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the position are listed below:
Reviewing proposal specifications and drawings and attending pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
Prepare estimates proficiently by calculating various statistical data such as quantity takeoffs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, and equipment costs and applying them to the complete scope of work.
Follow awarded contracts as assigned may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring materials, etc
Reviewing/researching historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compiling summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence forfuture estimates.
Must be able to Incorporate historical data into unit and man-hour figures.
Maintain files of working documents for backup to estimating figures including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact,sales brochures, price lists, etc.
Must be able to create, send and manage subcontractor requests for proposals.
Position Requirements- A minimum of 4 years of experience in heavy civil, and heavy highway estimating experience involving concrete and asphalt paving, road widening, drainage lines, road reconstruction, bridgework, and roadway dirt work.
- Bachelor's degree (B.
A.) from a four-year college, technical school or university in Engineeringor Construction Management - A minimum of 4 years of estimator and /or a combination of project engineer and estimating software.
- A minimum of 4 years of hard bid estimating
- Must be able to pass criminal background and driving background checks
