In the role of a Fire & Life Safety Specialist, we'll count on you to:
- Be capable of creating fire alarm system designs in a BIM model from design information and data provided by the Engineer/Architect, including sketches, details, diagrams and/or calculations.
- Generate contract documents from the Model and perform other BIM Uses identified in the BIM Planning documents.
- Possess experience in design analysis software and integration of the analysis models/data with Revit.
- Be familiar with NFPA and industry standards design criteria related to fire protection systems.
- Have solid multi‑discipline facility design experience, understanding how a project develops from concept through construction and how the disciplines interact throughout the life cycle.
- Work with both engineers and architects with minimal oversight.
- Exhibit excellent leadership and communication skills for coordination with multiple consultants, disciplines and project team members.
- Display excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Be familiar with applicable codes, Fire and Life Safety (FLS) design criteria, materials, software integration with the BIM model(s), editing specifications, reviewing shop drawings, CPRs and RFIs.
- Work with clients, both internal and external.
- Be willing to travel as required.
- Associate degree in a closely related field or a high school diploma with a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Entry level NFPA, ICC certifications or other specialized credentials related to the field of Fire & Life Safety.
- Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Specialty software experience needed to perform designs specific to area of expertise.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must.
- Minimum of 2 years Fire & Life Safety design experience in systems design or regulatory enforcement.
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering consulting firm or former role specific to Fire & Life Safety.
