What You’ll Do
  • Perform assignments in the analysis and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including advanced treatment/nutrient removal processes using Bio Win process modeling software; experienced also with water and sewer pipelines, pump stations and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports and work products.
  • Provide construction support and oversight including administration, limited inspection, and start‑up/operations support for treatment plants; review designs for conformance of design standards and support municipal water utility operations and maintenance teams.
  • Perform independent design tasks, review others’ designs, prepare bid documents, and organize all drawings, reports, calculations, and project deliverables with limited supervision.
  • Direct and manage a team of design engineers and/or technicians on water and wastewater projects.
  • Become knowledgeable of Merrick procedures, understand them, and apply them when required.
  • Make sound engineering decisions, exercise initiative, judgment and knowledge commensurate with the responsibilities.
  • Interface with clients and government agencies; lead project progress meetings, present projects, and provide clear written communications.
  • Additional duties may involve project management for projects.
  • Some travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School.
  • Minimum twelve (12) years of experience in the design and construction oversight of water and/or wastewater infrastructure facilities and projects.
  • Experience working on Wastewater projects.
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Certifications
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) State of Colorado and/or Texas.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with a focus on treatment processes.
  • Experience with:
    • Water/sewer modeling
    • Bio Win modeling
    • Advanced treatment/nutrient removal
    • GIS systems
  • Public works experience with local, state, or federal agencies.
  • Local candidates preferred (relocation available for the right fit).
