South Central Region Drinking Water Treatment Business Class Leader

In the Water Business Group, you’ll help shape how communities manage water for generations to come, delivering safe drinking water, treating wastewater responsibly, developing sustainable supplies and protecting lives and property through flood control. Your work will directly support public health, environmental sustainability and infrastructure resilience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide key leadership with strategic drinking water clients in the South Central Region via technical workshops, professional organization involvement including conferences, and serving as client manager and project manager as needed.
  • Engage in high‑profile project and contract pursuits that leverage your experience, technical expertise and client relationships with Area Business Development Leaders, Client Managers and other leadership.
  • Assist in managing a group of drinking water treatment engineers and related professionals in close coordination with Water Business Group leadership in the South Central Region.
  • Take responsibility for the coordination, mentoring, recruitment and development of regional drinking water treatment staff and production of quality deliverables to meet client needs.
  • Serve as a key member of the Drinking Water Treatment Business Class, responsible for staff management, business development and HDR’s technical quality program.
  • Plan, direct and/or monitor large multi‑disciplinary drinking water treatment projects, including long‑range visioning, strategic and tactical planning, policy planning, data analytics, process modeling and project development.
  • Lead or support scope development and execution with appropriate technical professionals across multiple disciplines.
  • Participate in and provide input to the annual budgeting, strategic planning and strategic initiatives process in collaboration with Area, Regional, National and Global leadership.
  • Assist HDR drinking water teams in other regions through occasional workshop attendance, technical guidance and quality control when you are the subject‑matter expert.
  • Participate in internal drinking water practice groups, professional societies and other organizations that promote the water industry.
  • Perform other duties related to projects and client management efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering or closely related field.
  • 10 years of experience in the related field.
  • Professional or engineering registration with related technical experience.
  • Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts.
  • Commitment to quality, improvement and HDR values.
  • Active participant in the employee‑owned culture.
