Calibration Specialist (Aviation)
Standard Aero invites you to join as a Calibration Specialist to plan, document, and implement methods related to the verification and calibration of inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
What You’ll Do- Recognize and understand flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
- Immediate reporting of flight/product safety concerns.
- Participate in proactive risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
- Adhere to the Just Culture policy.
- Register, maintain, calibrate/inspect, and apply identification markings to inspection equipment technical data and procedures.
- Monitor and adjust calibration frequencies for optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime.
- Design and maintain calibration procedures for inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
- Investigate and source qualified subcontractors for tooling that cannot be repaired or calibrated in‑house.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, modify, and align equipment to original or engineering specifications.
- Provide technical advice on selection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of new and existing inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
- Calibrate and certify a variety of test measurement and diagnostic equipment.
- Maintain records of all registered equipment, schedules, and traceability results.
- Prepare calibration data reports and documentation.
- Quarantine items found unserviceable or of poor quality.
- Observe all applicable safety requirements, using PPE and following established rules.
- Work extended or other than normal hours, including evenings and weekends, and may be subject to recall.
- Carry out special projects as assigned.
- 3–5 years experience calibrating or adjusting electronic or physical/dimensional test and measurement equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of precision inspection, measuring, and test instruments and systems (PME, TMDE).
- Knowledge of calibration and certification principles, root cause analysis, and metrology technical data principles.
- Resolve problems through collaboration with customers, vendors, and management.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, proficient with MS‑Office.
- Good planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision‑making, and communication skills.
- High mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
- Working knowledge of electronic systems and control instruments; ability to read schematics and detailed drawings.
- Ability to apply established repair, testing, alignment, and calibration techniques for equipment.
- Use of computers and metrology‑based data collection systems for traceability and quality management.
- Maintain tools and a safe work environment; understand and use Safety Data Sheets and PPE.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints.
- Thorough understanding of Measurement Uncertainty.
- Thorough knowledge of statistical techniques applicable to metrology.
- Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment.
- College degree in an engineering technology discipline or equivalent.
