Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Faculty Development Specialist to join our team and support the 39th Information Operations Squadron (39 IOS). We are preparing to hire for Journeyman, Senior, and SME levels, anticipating a start date in March/April 2026. The Cyber Operations Formal Training Support III (CyOFTS III) program supports delivery, development, and sustainment of cyber training across operationally relevant mission sets at multiple Air Force and joint training locations.

Required Qualifications / Skills
  • Active Secret clearance
  • CCAF Instructor of Technology & Military Science Degree and/or proof of:
    Collegiately Accredited Instructional Methods Course (BIC, IMC) awarding minimum 3 semester hours
  • Air Force ISD Course (AETC ADDIE or Approved Equivalent Course)
  • 1 000+ instructor hours (on podium) in a formal educational setting (classroom) civilian or military with 400 documented hours instructing faculty development courses (BIC, IMC or ISD, ADDIE) or equivalent.
  • CCAF Classroom Instructor Certification Level 1 (CIC 1)
  • For non‑CCAF instructors: 1 000 hours of documented formal training instruction
  • OR AETC Master Instructor Certification
  • Education and experience will depend on the labor category level
  • Previous faculty development experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver faculty development instruction consistent with required instructor certifications and documented instructor hours.
  • Support instruction and/or facilitation for recognized faculty development courses (e.g., BIC, IMC, ISD/ADDIE) or equivalent, as specified in the labor category.
  • Develop and update faculty development materials in alignment with Air Force instructional methods and ISD/ADDIE course requirements.
  • Identify the educational needs of instructors and developers while coordinating with COR/Government team lead on student instructor training plans.
  • Enter data into the CCAF Faculty Management Database.
  • Provide objective training evaluation according to unit evaluation guidance of student instructors and must successfully complete unit training to become a certified evaluator.
  • Design and develop formal educational and training courses related to instruction, development, and formal training.
  • Plan and conduct train‑the‑trainer programs, courses, and seminars for instruction in ISD, instructor methodologies, lesson development, test administration, and classroom procedures.
  • Design and develop e‑learning products, including objectives, storyboards, web‑based aids, or electronic performance support systems for inclusion into an LMS.
  • Design, plan, organize, or direct orientation and training programs for instructors or any other instructor base mission related to the DoD.
  • Assist in providing continuous learning/training programs or seminars to help instructor/developers maintain and improve skill sets for in‑residence courseware, MTT, and online ADL.
  • Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
  • Develop and produce training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials.
  • Assist in preparing and conducting Instructor Training courses while evaluating instructor performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Observe work of instructional staff to evaluate performance and to recommend changes that could strengthen teaching qualifications.
  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers, instructors, or customer representatives.
  • Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of evidence‑based methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on‑the‑job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
