Job DescriptionThe College of Education and Human Development seeks candidates for a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Kinesiology beginning in Fall, 2026. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate/graduate level courses in Kinesiology, including (but not limited to) Exercise in Chronic Disease and Disability, Therapeutic Exercise, Biomechanics of Musculoskeletal Injury, and Exercise Training, while working collaboratively with faculty to build a comprehensive Kinesiology program supporting multicultural populations.
Mentorship and advisement of students are essential in addition to the involvement in campus activities and other responsibilities, as deemed necessary. Scholarly activity with publications in referred journals as well as attendance and presentations at professional meetings is essential. Quality performance will also be expected in teaching, research, student mentorship, community service, as well as active University Committee participation.
The Kinesiology program, Department of Counseling, Health and Kinesiology, at Texas A&M University‑San Antonio is a growing program with approximately 450 majors. Our students choose between three concentrations:
Pre‑PT, Exercise Science, and Physical Education. Our faculty members are actively involved in research and in professional organizations in their respective fields. The successful candidate will join an intellectually stimulating and innovative academic environment.
- An earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Rehabilitation Sciences, Athletic Training, or Physical Therapy from an accredited institution. ABDs will be considered if the applicant can show that they are on schedule to complete their degree by the time of appointment. All ABD finalists will need to submit a letter or email from the doctoral advisor prior to interviewing for the position verifying that all requirements have been met, the date of the dissertation defense if that is all that remains, and when the applicant will graduate.
- Evidence of scholarly achievement in Kinesiology.
- Evidence of excellence in university teaching experience commensurate with the track of Assistant Professor.
- Excellent skills in interaction and communication with undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff.
