Kindergarten Lead Teacher

Position

Purpose:

Saint Mary’s Hall seeks a Kindergarten Lead Teacher with a passion for providing a holistic and joyful educational experience for students. The position is responsible for teaching the Saint Mary’s Hall curriculum, working in tandem with the other members of the kindergarten team, and supervising and working with the classroom Assistant. It is expected that the classroom will be a happy and supportive environment for children to learn and grow academically, emotionally and socially.

• Assess student abilities through the lens of growth mindset and global competencies.
• Establish regular and effective communication with students and parents.
• Engage regular professional development and identify growth based goals.
• Participate in required nonclassroom activities including but not limited to parent/teacher conferences, special activities, and performance events.
• Assist in curriculum coordination and design across the divisions.
• Participate in all required departmental, divisional, and All Staff meetings.
• Follow the curriculum vertical alignment established by the department chairs and division head.
• Work with other kindergarten teachers to plan and implement lessons and activities that are similar in scope and sequence.
• Prepare and implement lesson plans and provide monthly overview of class work.
• Administer student assessments to determine academic progress.
• Prepare, maintain and submit academic reports for students in the classroom on a quarterly basis to parents.
• Effectively use technology to enhance curriculum and communication with constituents.
• Prepare an environment which corresponds to the needs of the students and supports student growth.
• Mentor and supervise the Assistant.
• Hold meetings with parents when appropriate and communicate and cooperate with room parents on a consistent basis.
• Conduct conferences twice a year with parents while maintaining ongoing communication with parents regarding a child’s specific needs.
• Contribute to a school culture where all community members are seen, safe, and valued.

• Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Passion for content and for working with bright, motivated students.
• Demonstrated record of a creative and innovative approach to curriculum development and implementation.
• Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing and partnership with student support services.
• Independent School experience preferred.

• Work in a fastpaced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and diverse array of contacts
• May work at a desk and computer for extended periods
• Must be able to teach, instruct, and communicate with students, parents, coworkers, visitors, and other professionals.
• Have a good working knowledge of instructional technology equipment.
• Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled environment.
• Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
