Overview

Adjunct Instructor of Psychology (part-time) in the Department of Health and Behavioral Sciences at Texas A&M University—San Antonio. Expertise is open, but preference is given to applicants with teaching experience and an understanding of psychological research methods. Appointment will begin in Fall 2026. Potential courses include Research Methods and Statistics, Writing for Psychology, The Psychology Major, and other courses as needs arise.

Continuation depends on course availability. Most courses offered in person; courses could be offered days, evenings, or weekends based on departmental need. TAMU-SA faculty and staff aim to implement evidence-driven practices in teaching and learning, including experiential learning to support student persistence and success. Candidates should be committed to this vision and willing to innovate and experiment.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Masters degree in Psychology from an accredited university.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Broad training in psychology.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited university.
  • Experience serving as an instructor of record at the college/university level.
  • Experience teaching at a multicultural university.
  • Experience teaching in a non-traditional commuter university setting.
  • Ability to teach a range of courses in psychology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong self-discipline and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to interact with students from multicultural backgrounds.
Application Materials and Process

Finalists will be required to provide three current, original letters of recommendation to the Search Committee Chair via email (sent directly from the recommender) or at the address listed below. Letters should be less than one year old and bear the writer's actual signature. Prior to issuing a letter of appointment, official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution by the Office of Academic Affairs, TAMU-SA, One University Way, San Antonio, TX 78224.

We cannot accept transcripts issued directly to the candidate. If transcripts are from an international institution, it is the prospective faculty member's responsibility to have the transcript translated and evaluated by an approved credential evaluator.
