The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is currently looking civilian full-time Simulator/Academic Instructor-Pilot Instructor, GS-2181-12 located at 12th Training Squadron (12 TRS), Randolph AFB, San Antonio, TX.

Retention Incentive – 10% of yearly salary based on eligibility.

Responsibilities

In this position, you will serve as an aircraft simulator and academic instructor for students enrolled in the United States Air Force (UFT)/Pilot Instructor Training (PIT) program. You will instruct and evaluate pilots, maintain simulator efficacy, and support curriculum development.

Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. civilian.
  • Experience as a rated military aviator (pilot) is critical; prior instructor experience in a military aircraft is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems, operating procedures, aerodynamics, flying fundamentals, aircraft instrumentation, ground and flight emergency procedures, and both instrument and visual flight rules.
  • Knowledge of training aircraft operations, simulator characteristics, and limitations.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources.
  • Skill in using computer applications and simulator software to meet learning objectives.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, including classroom instruction to varying audience sizes.
  • Minimum flight hour requirements:
    • 1500 total flight hours
    • 250 pilot-in-command hours
    • 75 night flying hours
    • 75 instrument flying hours (at least 10 in actual instrument conditions)
    • 500 instructor time flight hours (fixed wing)
  • Required documents: flight logs (military and civilian), DD 214 (if applicable), SF 50 (if applicable), college transcripts.
