Position OverviewAs a teacher in our school, this position will oversee all aspects of the student learning experience. Teachers will design robust and rigorous lessons based on Project Based Learning (PBL) best practices and teach both synchronously and asynchronously during the week. Teachers will collaborate with colleagues, co-teach in PBL afternoon Work Labs to connect learning with real-world applications, and participate in weekly PLCs, regular staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
The role requires promoting the school’s mission and maintaining a positive environment and public image.
This position reports to the principal and works with a team of teachers to support student growth, develop new pathways for the school, and support overall school development.
Key Responsibilities- Academics: possess working knowledge of the Project Based Learning (PBL) model for the grades taught. Develop and implement rigorous lessons aligned with the school's philosophy and standards. Monitor student academic progress and identify areas for improvement. Oversee the learning process, implement enrichment and remediation as needed. Follow all required IEP/504/GT/Special Program requirements. Ensure high-quality instruction across all subject areas.
- Learning Environment: foster a supportive, inviting, kind, encouraging, energetic, inquisitive, robust, and challenging environment; promote FUN learning while removing barriers to exploration and innovation. Build a collaborative and positive work environment among colleagues.
- Student Support: maintain a safe and disciplined learning environment; address student behavioral issues with appropriate disciplinary measures; promote student well-being and social-emotional development; oversee student activities, clubs, and extracurricular programs.
- Community Engagement: communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and school activities; build strong relationships with parents and involve them in the school community; represent the school at community events and with external stakeholders as applicable.
- Instructional Technology: utilize online platforms and tools to deliver instruction, troubleshoot basic technical issues, and guide students in navigating the online classroom; maintain a virtual classroom presence with live sessions, recorded lessons, and interactive activities.
- Student Engagement & Attendance: monitor daily student engagement and attendance; communicate with students and families regarding attendance concerns or disengagement; implement strategies to foster connection in a virtual setting.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and leadership to plan and improve instructional practices; participate in virtual staff meetings, trainings, and planning sessions.
- Personalized Learning & Differentiation: use student performance data to personalize instruction and differentiate learning paths; help students set academic goals and develop self-directed learning skills.
- Compliance & Documentation (Online/Private Schools): maintain accurate records of attendance, engagement, and intervention efforts; support data collection for state reporting, accreditation, and internal evaluation.
- Professional Responsibilities: stay current on best practices in online education and student engagement; demonstrate professionalism and flexibility in a remote environment.
