Senior Naval JROTC Instructor
Join Comal Independent School District as a Senior Naval JROTC Instructor. The role involves providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the NJROTC program to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth and develop competencies to function successfully in society. Provide instruction and coaching to develop skills and ability to excel in NJROTC and contribute to the overall education program.
Education/ Certification
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Must hold or obtain the appropriate Navy certification required to serve in the NJROTC program.
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned.
- сипlus(General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to instruct and supervise students.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- As determined by the Naval Junior ROTC Program.
- Personal cell phone is required to handle district related business, including after hours, or when away from the office on district business.
- Class B CDL with P and S endorsement (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the Naval Science curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the NJROTC Program, Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Manage and supervise NJROTC activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in NJROTC skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Counsel students in the NJROTC program as needed.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of unit to assure NJROTC program objectives are met.
- Instruct and advise students on NJROTC ― regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
- Plan extracurricular activities for the NJROTC unit including color/honor guard ceremonies, drill team and rifle team competitive meets, field trips, basic leadership training, etc.);
- Accompany and supervise NJROTC unit during extracurricular activities and competitions.
- Apply and enforce student discipline during NJROTC events, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Encourage, by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to yy protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Perform simple preventative maintenance of training aids and devices.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with организми, students, parents, and community members.
