Description
The Campus Ministry Coordinator is responsible for developing, sustaining, and expanding ministry initiatives among students at the college and universities within the geographic boundaries of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The coordinator will work directly with the Director of Campus Ministry and the Campus Ministry team to help students who have not yet met Christ encounter Him, support those who have met Him to grow in their relationship with Him, and equip those who follow Christ to become apostles on their campuses and in the community.
- Invent approaches and create original events to foster strong discipleship programs; draw on ministry and theology knowledge to form students into leaders and accompany them in their faith journey.
- Create creative theological content to engage students via official Campus Ministry social media platforms; foster digital student engagement and respond to student outreach from these platforms.
- Evaluate theological content to ensure teachings align with Catholic Church teachings; conduct necessary research and evaluation for digital content from official campus ministry platforms.
- Manage the quality of regular campus ministry events (e.g., weekly Masses, opportunities for confession, Eucharistic adoration, service projects, fellowship, regular student meetings) and coordinate all aspects of ministry planning and execution for each gathering.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment to identify pastoral needs of students and respond appropriately, including referrals for guidance or services beyond campus ministry scope.
- Operate within the Campus Ministry budget across all events and planning activities.
- Create or identify catechetical curriculum and model to teach and form students preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation each year.
- Collaborate with the Director for Campus Ministry to establish and implement strategic short- and long-term goals, plans, ministerial policies, and operating procedures.
- Establish and lead discipleship groups or meetings to foster a culture of discipleship in campus ministry.
- Identify student leadership potential and spiritually guide and train them as missionary disciples; maintain ongoing communication at least weekly with these students.
- Recruit, supervise and train all campus ministry volunteers in collaboration with the Campus Ministry Team.
- Support the Events & Liturgies Coordinator in implementing events to engage new students with creative social and spiritual activities for diverse evangelization stages.
- Collaborate as an equal member of the Campus Ministry team with campus Coordinators and maintain regular communication.
- Engage in personal growth, professional development, theological study, prayer, charity and justice work, and spiritual formation.
- Create and foster relationships with pastors and parish staff near college/university campuses.
- Adhere to safety training and protocols daily, ensuring safety and well-being of self and others.
- Protect confidentiality of information obtained in service, including constituent names, services rendered, donor information, investigations, and financial information as applicable.
- Adhere to Code of Conduct and Faith and Morals policy.
- Maintain a solution-oriented, collaborative team mindset aligned with the Mission and Vision of the organization.

- Essential Functions - ADA
- Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Ministry, Theology/Religious Studies or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in campus ministry or ministerial accompaniment.
- At least 2 years’ experience working as part of a team, with knowledge of group dynamics, organization, communication, and leadership.
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver license
- Valid vehicle insurance
- Bilingual, Spanish, preferred.
- Practicing Catholic with demonstrated ministry expertise
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing and proofreading
- Experience with one-on-one discipleship, young adult ministry, communication, and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media
- Experience embodying Catholic faith through evangelization, theological discussions, and outreach
- Ability to build professional relationships with diverse constituents (students, faculty/administration, priests, parish staff, Archdiocesan leaders)
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
- Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Travel up to 65% local and 5% overnight
