Base Pay

$18.00/hr - $18.00/hr

Responsibilities

The Teacher Assistant (including substitutes and floaters) assists the Head Start Teacher in delivering the classroom curriculum in accordance with Head Start regulations, licensing, and guidelines, and uses agency standards to ensure services align with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma-informed care lens as defined by the agency. The classroom is maintained as one in which children are aware of expectations, provided with rules, consistent;

while building a positive relationship with students that focuses on positive communication, appropriate physical proximity, respect, positive discipline, and guidance. Supervise children at all times.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School or better in Early Childhood Education.
  • Preferred Education: Associates or better in Early Childhood Education.
  • Experience (Required): High School Diploma or GED plus a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential required; working toward an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with a major relative to early childhood education preferred.
  • Experience (Required): Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification. Required.
  • Preferred: Previous classroom experience and ability to utilize various learning techniques in the successful delivery of curricula.
  • Preferred: Understands cultural differences and is sensitive to the implications of culture for service delivery.
  • Preferred: Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Required: CPR/First Aid
  • Required: Child Development Associate (CDA)
