Saint Mary’s Hall is seeking a passionate, energetic Assistant Tennis Coach who strives to build a highly competitive and challenging program for the SMH student-athletes while supporting the school’s mission. The coach will help create a rewarding experience for students while maintaining high academic standards, teaching life skills that benefit student-athletes for years to come.
Responsibilities- Assist in planning and administering all aspects of the tennis program.
- Model exemplary student-athlete behavior and promote personal development.
- Provide coaching and administrative support to the Head Coach.
- Participate in public relations activities.
- Adhere to TAPPS rules and maintain professional standards.
- Counsel team members on academic, disciplinary, and personal matters following school and FERPA guidelines.
- Engage in continuing education programs.
- Coordinate game day activities, including practice setup, equipment management, and officiating.
- Work with the Communications Director to promote team achievements.
- Assist with events, tournaments, fundraisers, and clinics.
- Support athletic department operations on game days.
- Maintain inventory at the start and end of the year.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of tennis fundamentals, techniques, and strategies.
- Ability to attract, retain, and develop qualified athletes.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to learn and adhere to TAPPS regulations.
- Good interaction skills with officials, coaches, parents, and the community.
- Mentoring skills for students of diverse backgrounds.
- Leadership qualities.
- Ability to collaborate across campus departments.
- Organizational and administrative skills.
- Flexibility to travel and work evenings and weekends.
- CPR/First Aid certification (must be obtained if not already held; school covers training cost).
- Travel to various events, including overnight trips.
- Work nights and weekends.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying less than 50 lbs.
- Operate office equipment.
- Work in a dynamic academic environment with diverse challenges.
