Job DescriptionThe Special Populations Specialist serves as a critical support to special populations faculty and school leaders, providing guidance in compliance, curriculum, and instruction. This role collaborates with instructional staff, regional curriculum teams, and school personnel to deliver high‑quality, individualized education programs for students with diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities- Deliver campus‑based instructional modeling and compliance training for teachers and instructional assistants implementing IEPs and 504 plans.
- Coach and support school‑based special education managers and staff across all grade bands, including self‑contained classrooms on MTSS, 504, and special education.
- Analyze school and student data (MTSS, 504, ARD, iReady, STAAR, etc.) to inform instructional decisions and professional development.
- Monitor ARD paperwork and ensure compliance with IDEA, Texas state regulations, and Section 504.
- Facilitate professional development sessions on instructional strategies and compliance.
- Serve as liaison among special populations teams, providing effective communication and collaboration.
- Collaborate with Senior Directors and school staff to resolve TEA complaints and support MTSS systems.
- Support teacher capacity by providing coaching, office hours, and targeted assistance.
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred. - 3+ years of experience teaching with a focus on special education services.
- Knowledge of MTSS, 504, and the 13 IDEA eligibility categories.
- Experience analyzing and implementing federal, state, and local special education regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Outlook.
