Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary:
- High School Diploma: $27,500
- Associate’s Degree: $29,000
- Bachelor’s Degree: $32,000
Stipend:
In addition to the provided base salary, this role comes with a $1500 stipend.

Position Summary:
The Lead Paraprofessional in a Self-Contained Behavior Classroom supports students with emotional and behavioral disabilities by implementing behavior strategies, assisting with academic instruction, and helping maintain a safe and structured learning environment. In this leadership role, the paraprofessional collaborates closely with the assigned special education teacher and may provide guidance to other support staff to ensure consistency in behavior interventions and instructional support.
Key Responsibilities: Provide direct support to students with behavioral and emotional needs in both academic and non-academic settings.
- Assist in the implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), de-escalation techniques, and individualized supports.
- Support students in developing appropriate social skills, coping strategies, and emotional regulation techniques.
- Help implement lesson plans and academic tasks as directed by the classroom teacher or special education team.
- Serve as a point of contact for paraprofessional staff in the classroom, offering guidance, support, and modeling of best practices.
- Implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.
- Track and document student behavior, academic progress, and IEP goal mastery.
- Collect data on student behavior and academic progress; contribute to progress monitoring and documentation.
- Assist in maintaining a structured, safe, and consistent classroom environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff to support student needs and IEP goals.
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other activities to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and behavior intervention training.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Experience working with students with emotional/behavioral disabilities strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of behavior management, de-escalation strategies, and trauma-informed practices.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in high-stress situations.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- Training in crisis prevention and intervention (e.g., CPI, PCM) is a plus or may be required upon hire.
Working Conditions: Full-time position in a self-contained classroom setting.
