The Montessori Teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by guiding, inspiring, and educating students in a loving, Christ-centered environment. The Teacher is responsible to the principal for implementing school and Archdiocese policies, classroom management, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Position Responsibilities- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Adheres to school and Archdiocese policies, including Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
- Follows safety protocols and takes measures to ensure safety and well-being of students and staff
- Protects confidentiality of sensitive information
- Follows the Code of Conduct and Faith and Moral Policy
- Collaborates with colleagues to promote the school's mission and vision
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Develops and implements lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards
- Adapts lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles
- Uses technology effectively in teaching
- Assesses student learning and adjusts instruction accordingly
- Supervises teacher aides and volunteers
- Helps students improve study skills
- Conducts ongoing assessments of student achievement
- Participates in extracurricular activities as assigned
- Serves as a positive role model and supports Catholic education mission
- Creates a conducive learning environment
- Manages student behavior according to policies
- Ensures safety of students and resources
- Assists in selecting instructional materials
- Maintains open communication with parents, students, and staff
- Maintains professional relationships
- Communicates clearly and effectively
- Participates in staff development
- Complies with regulations and policies
- Prepares required reports and records
- Attends faculty meetings and serves on committees
Minimum Qualifications
- Montessori certification
- 12 credit hours in education or valid Montessori certificate
- Proficiency in technology and multimedia
- Demonstrated competency in subject area
- Pass Safe Environment screening and background check
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct and manage behavior
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated
- Good verbal and written skills
- Willingness to work some weekends and evenings
- Ability to work a full school day
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
