Purpose

UT GEAR UP All In (AI) Site Coordinator will help GEAR UP cohort students realize their dream of applying for and attending college. Working alongside middle and high school staff, Coordinators will assist students with academic and college knowledge counseling, mentoring, college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship applications. Coordinators will also plan and assist with college awareness activities at the school level to meet UT GEAR UP AI project objectives and goals.

Responsibilities
  • Function 1:
    Academic Enrichment
    • Monitor cohort students’ grades, attendance, transcripts, and promote on‑time promotion and graduation.
    • Assess academic and personal needs through transcript evaluations, student interviews, and counselor recommendations.
    • Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement service plans and monitor graduation and college readiness.
    • Maintain student information files and manage caseload using the grant‑sanctioned data system.
    • Assist students in meeting STAAR, EOC, PSAT, SAT, ACT, or TSI standards.
    • Coordinate access to qualified counselors and leverage grant resources to ensure students avail partner‑provided services.
  • Function 2:
    Group Events
    • Organize assemblies, pep rallies, family night events, and other support activities before, during, and after school.
    • Visit classrooms and club meetings to offer services and emphasize college importance.
    • Partner with community groups, non‑profits, churches, Boys & Girls Clubs, and social service providers for events outside school.
    • Recognize student success and motivate students.
  • Function 3:
    Admissions & Financial Aid Counseling
    • Encourage broad college choices and develop comprehensive college timelines.
    • Help students complete and submit applications.
    • Interpret correspondence from colleges, including offers.
  • Function 4:
    Grant Administration
    • Recruit, train, supervise student and volunteer staff, assigning schedules.
    • Collect volunteer and donation forms and maintain documentation files of all grant activities.
    • Develop outreach materials, including newsletters and social media sites.
  • Function 5:
    School Relationship Building
    • Assess school needs with IPSI project director and staff, adapt programs accordingly.
    • Seek advice from principals and establish vertical teams to support cohort and transition.
  • Function 6:
    Coordination Across District
    • Visit other schools, coordinate events and services, attend events organized by other site coordinators.
  • Function 7:
    Program Assessment & Sustainability
    • Collect and analyze key progress data for evaluation.
    • Submit monthly progress reports and meet with evaluators.
    • Represent UT GEAR UP AI at requested events.
  • Function 8:
    Professional Development
    • Participate in ongoing professional development, trainings, webinars, conferences.
    • Seek opportunities for additional development with project director.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, child development, education, public administration, or related field.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • In‑depth knowledge of secondary education requirements in Texas.
  • Knowledge of postsecondary education options, application procedures, and admission requirements.
  • Knowledge of financial aid and scholarship opportunities and FAFSA application processes.
  • Strong ability to communicate with students, parents, and school staff verbally and in writing.
  • Strong preference for bilingual/bicultural (Spanish) fluency/knowledge.
Salary Range

$55,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • May work around standard office conditions with repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation.
