Texas Scoring Assistant – Special Education Specialist EC-12
Join Pearson as a Texas Scoring Assistant for the Special Education Specialist EC-12 Assessment. As a scorer, you will evaluate constructed response components of the Texas Educator Certification Examination Program and help determine candidates’ readiness to become certified teachers.
OverviewScoring takes place during the day on weekdays remotely via Microsoft Teams. Sessions are held once a month for one to two days, and scorers are scheduled based on their availability.
Responsibilities- Score the Special Education Specialist EC-12 assessment following Pearson’s scoring methodology.
- Complete scoring sessions remotely via Teams, working one to two days per month.
- Adhere to Pearson’s scoring standards and confidentiality guidelines.
- Have at least three years of experience working in Special Education in the state of Texas.
- Have worked in a Texas classroom within the past three years.
- Reside in Texas.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree.
- Comply with ethical obligations under SBEC 230.21(g), including:
- Not soliciting or revealing test item contents to unauthorized individuals.
- Maintaining test security, confidentiality, and integrity.
- Agree not to leverage scorer experience for compensation in test‑preparation activities.
- Take the Special Education Specialist EC‑12 exam within 180 days of scoring.
- Be one of the following:
- PK‑12 teacher with a valid Texas Special Education teaching certificate.
- EPP faculty member of a Texas‑approved Special Education Specialist EC‑12 program.
- EPP faculty member teaching Texas‑approved Special Education Specialist EC‑12 courses.
- Educator who scored the Special Education Specialist EC‑12 exam within the past three years.
- Retired educators with appropriate certification and teaching experience within the previous three years are eligible.
- Possess basic computer skills and the ability to sit for extended periods.
- Hourly rate: $17.50 per hour.
- All scoring conducted remotely (Teams) on weekdays.
- Scoring sessions: once a month, one to two days.
