Special Education RISE Co‑Teacher – IDEA Ingram Hills College Prep (Immediate Opening)
IDEA Public Schools – Join our team as a Special Education RISE Co‑Teacher. This position offers valuable experience in special education teaching, working with students who have significant cognitive or pervasive developmental disabilities in K‑12 classrooms. You will support a special education–RISE classroom, helping students acquire daily living and vocational skills to transition successfully into adult life.

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities- Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers.
- Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students and monitor progress.
- Provide support for individual students both inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation.
- Collaborate with other professionals (speech therapists, social workers, occupational and physical therapists).
- Assist classroom teachers with maintaining student records.
- Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and help them develop appropriate social skills.
- Assist with daily living skills (feeding, lifting, toileting) in the Life Skills Unit.
- Attend school bus rides to accompany students when required.
- Education:
At least 48 college hours required; bachelor’s degree preferred. - Experience:
Working with children with cognitive and/or pervasive developmental disabilities strongly preferred. - Licenses or
Certifications:
Willingness to pursue a Special Education teaching certification preferred. - Skills:
Physical ability to assist students as needed (positioning, lifting, etc.); ability to instruct and manage behavior; strong organizational and communication skills; adaptability in a dynamic school environment.
- Hourly rate ranging $16.61 to $23.98 based on experience, paid over 12 months.
