Eligibility Advisor I – Temporary (CCC)
Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our Access and Eligibility Services (AES) division. This temporary position is expected to end on 08/31/2027 and may allow transition to a regular status position based on performance and availability.

- Salary Range: $2,953.25 - $4,365.66 per month (TEXAS‑B‑13 adaml)

- Travel: Up to 10%
- Interview applicants and recipients in person or by telephone to gather financial and personal information to determine eligibility.
- Evaluate and enter data into a computer‑based eligibility system.
- Compute and authorize benefits based on determination.
- Process work in compliance with state and federal regulations and established procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Use fact‑finding techniques to obtain, relate, and evaluate information.
- Read, understand, apply, and explain detailed regulations and policies.
- Perform basic arithmetic functions.
- Manage time efficiently and establish priorities.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Follow written and oral directions.
- Operate computers: data entry, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Microsoft Teams.
- Use soft‑phone technology if required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Preferred: 60 semester or 90.Parameters quarter hours from an accredited college or university.
- Required:
1 year customer service experience with public contact. - Substitution: 30 semester or 45 quarter hours may be substituted for required experience.
- Preferred: experience interviewing clients and gathering personal information in‑person or over the phone.
Selected candidates must sign a Temporary.grp Employment Agreement and may be eligible to transfer to a regular status position. The role may require overtime—including weekends—and a background check. Applicants must comply with E‑Verify and bring I‑9 documentation.
