Construction Superintendent

HJD Capital is seeking a skilled Construction Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations on commercial construction sites throughout San Antonio. In this key leadership role, you'll coordinate on-site activities, supervise subcontractors and crews, and ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, and in accordance with plans, specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate brings hands-on construction knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a proactive leadership style to keep projects moving efficiently.

• Direct supervision of tradespeople, laborers, subcontractors, and site forepersons

• Assigns daily tasks and provides guidance to field personnel

• Monitors worksite performance and enforces safety and quality compliance

• Develops and maintains the daily and weekly field schedules for assigned projects

• Coordinates and communicates effectively with subcontractors, field crews, and project managers

• Tracks material inventory and submits requests to ensure timely delivery

• Oversees on-site work to ensure it meets design specifications, building codes, and safety regulations

• Conducts routine job site inspections for quality assurance and progress monitoring

• Facilitates permit acquisition and schedules required inspections

• Maintains accurate daily field reports, including manpower, site activities, and incidents

• Works closely with the Project Manager to manage budgets and track costs

• Quickly addresses field issues and safety concerns, implementing corrective actions as needed

• Communicates with clients, owners, and architects, providing regular updates and progress reports

• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, and sequencing

• Familiarity with local building codes and OSHA safety regulations

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical documents

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CAD software a plus

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities

Education & Experience:

• 1-2 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent or comparable construction leadership role

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
