Position OverviewThe Asphalt Roller Operator is an integral part of the asphalt team that works with the crew foreman with primary responsibilities of operating a roller machine to tamp down and smooth out the asphalt that has been laid, making sure the asphalt is smooth and level. The ideal candidate is familiar with rolling machines of different types and has a thorough understanding of asphalt pavingagd operations.
Key Responsibilities- Must be able to run, maneuver, and drive the asphalt roller machine.
- Heavy equipment experience is a plus.
- Inspects equipment before operating to ensure it is in good working order and ready for the day, including post‑shift inspection.
- Practices awareness of others working alongside the machines, and exercises safety practices at all times. Safety is essential!
- General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching or prep crews.
- Will be expected to leave the machine as required by foreman and job perimeters to help shovel, rake, and handle other small tools.
- Prior to concluding a shift, equipment must be cleaned and organized to company standards.
- May be called upon to run small power tools.
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
- Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
- Perform other duties as requested and assigned.
- 1 year (or under) experience.
- Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
- Ability to work well with others in a group or one‑on‑one setting.
- Promote, execute, and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally Fraction injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
- Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
- Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
- Entry Level Position.
- Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, a plus.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
- Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required.
- Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas.
