Base pay range$16.00/yr - $16.00/yr
Residential Care Shift Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and supervising direct care staff during their scheduled shift and ensuring a smooth operation/transition between end of shift. Works to ensure that each child receives the proper care and guidance while providing safety, comfort, and assisting them with their basic living skills.
Complete orientation, pre-service training and shadowing as required by program administrators. Assist, in a positive manner, in the training and welcoming of new staff.
- Actively participate and remain in compliance with licensing standards for annual training, up to 50 hours annually (training hours are paid and accumulated outside of working/scheduled care hours when approved by Administrators).
- Be knowledgeable of and observe operational procedures and policies laid out in employee manual.
- Perform all duties of residential care providers, counting as supervision ration when needed.
- Supervision and delegation of duties to Residential Care Provider.
- Coordination with Assistant Director of transportation of children to and from school, medical appointments and outings.
- Facilitating with Case Manager of both play and learning in keeping with the published daily schedule.
- Ensuring proper and timely completion of paperwork such as contact notes, behavior logs, incident reports, work orders and supply requests including monitoring the documentation completion of assigned staff.
- Complete intakes and discharges as delegated by Case Manager, Assistant Director, and Director.
- Report all incidents/emergencies to Assistant Director, Director of Residential Services, and/or Case Manager.
- Report promptly at the start of the assigned shift and remain on shift until relieved without interruption from outside sources.
- Effectively manage time to ensure completion of duties prior to end of shift. To include duties assigned by Assistant Director and/or Director.
- Assist with feeding, assist restroom use (including diapering of children and adolescents), bathing, grooming and repositioning.
- Stretching, lifting, stooping or bending to assist participants in or out of bed, in and out of wheelchairs, or in and out of adaptive equipment, during recreational activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Complete duties as assigned in the maintenance and upkeep of the shelter (bleach/ soap/water bottle construction and use, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning, etc.).
- Report suspected abuse and neglect to the Department of Family and Protective Services and ensure staff does not abuse or neglect children.
- Model appropriate social skills to include appropriate dress, loudness/tone of voice, language, cooperation, social courtesy and table manners.
- Administer general care/daily living skills- toileting, feeding, changing diapers, dressing, bathing, administering medication, etc.
- Plan, organize and supervise stimulating activities for the children in accordance with the published daily activity schedule.
- Actively engage with the children and encourage them in all domains of development.
- Work on developmentally appropriate skills as they apply to each unique child (i.e. alphabet, numbers, colors, sounds, sitting up, tracking objects, community skills, daily living skills and educational skills, etc.)
- Facilitate the modification of activities for children with disabilities to ensure full participation (seek guidance from Case Manager or Director when needed).
- Utilize appropriate behavior management techniques and use positive reinforcement to encourage and foster appropriate behaviors in children.
- Use descriptive and appropriate language to guide children (i.e. ‘put your feet on the floor’, ‘put your bottom on the chair/on the mat’, ‘our hands belong to ourselves’ instead of ‘get down’, ‘sit’, ‘stop hitting’ respectively or other ‘no’, and ‘stop’ language).
