POSITION SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES
The Benefits Analyst provides comprehensive administrative and analytical support for all University Health System employee and house staff insurance plans. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate application and administration of benefits programs, policies, and procedures while maintaining a focus on data integrity, compliance, and continuous process improvement.
Key responsibilities include providing benefits information and guidance to employees, serving as a liaison with carriers and plan administrators, and assisting plan participants with understanding benefit provisions and limitations. The incumbent will investigate and resolve complex benefit coverage matters, audit and reconcile insurance invoices and claims, and identify data errors, trends, and opportunities for cost control or process efficiency.
A strong analytic focus is essential — this position will use data-driven insight to support reporting, forecasting, and trend analysis related to benefits utilization, costs, and compliance. The Analyst will also conduct regular audits of Leave of Absence records, ensuring compliance with internal policy and federal/state regulations. All communications with employees, visitors, and callers should reflect University Health’s commitment to professionalism, responsiveness, and accuracy.

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in administering or supporting insurance benefits, COBRA, or related employee benefits programs preferred.
- Demonstrated experience using data analysis to support decision-making, identify trends, and improve processes; database management, and word processing is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of legislation including ERISA, Section 125/Flexible Spending Accounts, HIPAA, COBRA, and FMLA required.
- Experience with HRIS or data reporting tools (e.g., People Soft, Workday, or similar systems) a plus.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data sets and transform findings into actionable insights.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and policies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with employees, management, and external partners.
