As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks, including entering journal entries, performing balance sheet account reconciliations, income statement review and variance analysis, monitoring compliance with company procedures for cash handling and other special projects to assist in the financial reporting process. This is a full-time hourly position with compensation of $45,000 plus comprehensive benefits and perks.

This position is based in our San Antonio corporate office and reports to the Controller. This role is a key part of the financial reporting team.

Key Responsibilities
  • General Ledger Management: Prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and assist in reviewing the income statement and explaining variances to the budget.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of cash balances.
  • Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries for various financial transactions, including accruals, deferrals, and adjustments.
  • Cash Handling: Review daily cash handling for multiple locations and alert any over/short issues with bank deposits.
  • Special Projects: Assist in various financial analysis projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software;
    Sage Intacct experience is a plus.
  • Analytical

    Skills:

    Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate across all levels.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ethics and Integrity: Strong sense of ethics and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information.
