Staff Accountant

Location: San Antonio, TX (Must reside locally)

Work Model: Hybrid – Monday–Thursday onsite

Training: 100% onsite for the first 1–2 months

Direct-Hire Salary: $60,000–$70,000 (based on experience)

Contract : $25–$33/hour

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking two experienced Staff Accountants for contract-to-hire and direct hire opportunities in San Antonio, TX.

We are looking for a well-rounded Accountant with strong GAAP knowledge, hands‑on month‑end close experience, and solid ERP accounting software proficiency. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, takes ownership of their work, and is passionate about process improvement and operational efficiency.

• Support and execute the month‑end close process
• Prepare and post journal entries (routine and non‑routine)
• Perform account reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare and manage monthly accruals
• Complete cash reconciliations for assigned entities
• Maintain assigned balance sheet accounts and supporting schedules
• Prepare revenue, receivables, accrual, reclass, and eliminating journal entries
• Support intercompany accounting and eliminations

• Prepare audit support and internal schedules for annual reviews and external audits
• Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• Document accounting processes and internal controls
• Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data
• Assist with client‑specific reporting or billing as needed
• Support ad hoc financial analyses and special projects
• Maintain flexibility to meet business needs, including occasional overtime

• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance (Required – Non‑Negotiable)
• Minimum 2+ years of accounting experience with significant accounting responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with month‑end close
• Experience with ERP accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, formulas required)

• Sage Intacct or similar ERP system
• Experience in a growing or evolving organization
• Exposure to improving accounting workflows and efficiencies
