Perform advanced level accounting and analysis work applying HHSC policies and procedures for preparation and maintenance of accounting records. Process purchase vouchers, reconcile invoices, monitor expenses, maintain financial workbooks, respond to inquiries, and serve as Super User in purchasing requisition process.
Responsibilities- Receive purchase vouchers and process payments using CAPPS Financials.
- Verify purchase orders and contracts before payment; coordinate receiving reports.
- Monitor and enforce contract limits, run Voucher Aging Report, and follow up with vendors.
- Resolve payment discrepancies and answer staff/vendor inquiries.
- Serve as Super User or backup Super User for purchasing requisition process.
- Review and update cost pool office supply lists via TXSmart
Buy system. - Compile and analyze expense data to prepare financial and statistical reports.
- Maintain regional workbook for cost pool expenditures and budget projections.
- Process accounts receivable by receiving vendor checks and recording credits.
- Experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general journal work.
- Experience using automated accounting systems such as CAPPS or USAS.
- Strong analytical skills for statistical and budget projections.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and computerized accounting tools.
- Knowledge of payment, procurement, and advanced accounting principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Valid Class C Driver's License.
High School Diploma or GED required; college education in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. Experience may be substituted for education.
Ability to assist with emergency/disaster situations throughout the state and travel as needed.
