Job Summary
The Staff Accountant supports day to day accounting activities for multiple manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities include assisting with month end closing, SOX controls, cost analysis, sales tax filing and general support of the finance team. This position will work closely with the sites and functional managers to ensure processes and procedures are in place and are followed while seeking actionable improvement opportunities.
Job Location- This role will work out of our San Antonio, TX location.
- Manage account reconciliation process for multiple accounts including banks, disbursements, and payroll accounts.
- Participate in month-end, quarterly and annual financial closing cycles.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts with various registers and sub-ledgers and ensure timely clearing of all reconciling items.
- Assist in preparing tax filings and supporting documentation.
- Collect and manage documentation to adhere to SOX control compliance.
- Prepare and analyze journal entries.
- Ability to learn multiple processes and aid in backup support.
- Manage travel & expense system to support users and ensure policy compliance.
- Support cost control initiatives to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial tasks.
- Assist with external and internal control audits.
- Assist in special projects as needed.
- Perform ad hoc analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a similar Financial or Accounting role.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Demonstrated awareness of all elements of a division’s financial statements.
- Strong attention to detail, producing high-quality products and meeting deadlines.
- Manufacturing industry & cost accounting experience.
