About Chronos Academy
Chronos Academy is a microschool serving gifted, curious, creative learners in grades TK–8. Our students are bright, often asynchronous learners who thrive in environments that are playful, engaging, and grounded in strong relationships. Most Chronos students are gifted in one or more areas, and some are twice exceptional and/or neurodivergent. They benefit from a personalized learning approach and thrive when they feel respected and connected with their teachers, partners in their own education.
The foundation of Chronos Academy is an innovative curriculum that connects all subjects to a historical timeline. Each week is a unit study in a period of history with memory work songs, hands‑on maker projects, science experiments and math explorations. All grade levels follow the same cohesive curriculum scaled to their level, and teachers present information according to the master schedule.
Samples are available on our website.
To engage gifted learners, Chronos is intentionally less formal than a traditional school. Classrooms can be lively and creative, and students benefit from adults who can maintain clarity, consistency, and calm. We are looking for teachers who love to learn, who are characterized by curiosity, who enjoy creativity and fun, but also value careful preparation, follow‑through, and intentional structure. Small class sizes allow teachers to work with students individually and build strong partnerships with families.
Students learn skills at their own pace, work toward mastery rather than grade level standards, and present their own research weekly. Chronos uses multi‑year classroom groupings (TK–K, grades 1–2, 3–4, 5–6, and 7–8). Teachers often remain with the same students for a two‑year cycle, though placements may shift based on school needs and fit.
