The Pre-Op/PACU RN performs holistic assessment throughout the Pre-Op and Post-Op period while following all ASPAN nursing standards and practice recommendations. Communicates all pertinent findings with other members of the healthcare team. Demonstrates understanding of the procedure performed, and documents appropriate assessments and interventions throughout the Perioperative period. Competent to respond to life‑threatening complications during the recovery period. Educates patients and families on what to expect during their procedure and the recovery period.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing

• Current nursing assessment and patient care skills, ability to communicate effectively, ability to master new skills, basic computer skills.

• Thorough knowledge of all phases of perioperative care;
  Meditech experience

• Texas license as a Registered Nurse, certified Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

• Certified in Perianesthesia Nursing (CPAN), Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA)

• One year experience as an RN in a hospital or outpatient environment.

• One year or more experience in a hospital Post Anesthesia Care Unit or Critical Care Area experience.
