City of Sammamish is seeking a Lead Traffic Signal Technician to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of our traffic signal systems and infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Supervises and coordinates, provides guidance to, and reviews the work of individual contributors to accomplish operational plans and results.
- Assists the Traffic Engineering Manager in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of the signal workshop and Traffic Division.
- Prioritizes, assigns, and delegates tasks, monitors status of assignments, and checks completed work for quality, adherence to standards, regulations, and specifications.
- Monitors the costs and timelines associated with completed work; ensures crews have the necessary resources to perform assigned activities.
- Provides guidance and instruction in the proper and most efficient method of accomplishing tasks.
- Provides technical skill on job sites and performs specialized activities, as necessary.
- Encourages the effective use of technology to improve operations.
- Assists with preparing and monitoring the Traffic Division budget on items related to the traffic workshop; confirms expenses and processes invoices.
- Maintains necessary records and logs for all workshop maintenance, service, and safety activities and functions.
- Estimates work scope and determines if work is to be contracted out or handled in-house.
- Identifies and effectively resolves technical problems related to work assignments.
- Plans, schedules, and supervises the work activities of contractors and provides assistance, guidance, and direction as needed.
- Assist in developing, modifying, and reviewing City standards and specifications related to traffic signal and street lighting materials and equipment.
- Acts as back up of Senior Traffic Signal Technician and performs duties as necessary.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, political affiliation, military service, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- May be required to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and events based on organizational responsibilities and/or requirements.
- Schedules, trains, motivates, and evaluates employees; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; makes recommendations regarding discipline and termination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by four (4) years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or…
