Overview
Smith Elementary is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Para educator to join our team. We are looking for someone who is caring, empathetic, and skilled at building strong relationships with students and staff. The ideal candidate is a flexible thinker who can adapt to diverse learning needs and provide meaningful support to students working toward their IEP goals.
Responsibilities- Providing individualized support for students (1:1)
- Working with small groups to reinforce learning
- Assisting in classrooms through push-in support
- Collaborating with teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment

Description180 day working calendar
If the start date for this position is February 1 or later, this position will be School Year Only. The position will end at the conclusion of the current school year. Depending on staffing needs, hires may be offered an additional role after continuing staff have been placed for the school year.
Hours Per Day: 5.5
Shift: 10:10am-4:10 pm. Shift subject to change.

$28.07/hour position () is eligible for membership in the Teamsters Local Union No. 763 which is part of the Lake Washington School District Trades Bargaining Council No. 763 (TBC).
Job SummaryAssists teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile. Supports students' special health care needs and develops daily living and behavioral skills. Assists staff with classroom preparation and retrieval, use and storage of equipment and supplies. May supervise and assist students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained classroom, playgrounds, or getting on and off a bus.
EducationAnd Experience Requirements
- Must hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher OR have completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours OR have passed an Educational Testing Service Para Pro Assessment documenting a score of 455 or higher OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher. Official documentation will be required upon hire.
