Start your career in process engineering with a role that puts you at the heart of real‑world problem solving and manufacturing innovation. As a Graduate Apprentice in our Process Support Engineering team, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to support manufacturing across multiple business units – helping to improve processes, maintain product quality, and drive continuous improvement.

You’ll be learning by doing – gaining valuable hands‑on experience and exposure to key engineering activities from day one. Whether it’s supporting tooling design, contributing to risk assessments, or helping with production readiness reviews, every task will bring you one step closer to becoming a skilled, confident process engineer.

What You’ll Learn with Us
  • Support the design of process layouts, jigs, and tooling in collaboration with engineers and design teams.
  • Take part in risk assessments and support trial activities to ensure safe and efficient processes.
  • Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives and help manage engineering design changes.
  • Shadow engineers during product and process reviews and gather data for FMEA and statistical analysis.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
  • Learn how to maintain design history files, data packs, and bills of materials.
  • Support the development and upkeep of operational documentation.
  • Participate in production readiness reviews and assist with handovers to manufacturing teams.
  • Help assess changes to materials or suppliers alongside engineers and subject matter experts.
  • Build your skills in technical report writing, data analysis, and presenting engineering conclusions to different audiences.
  • Provide hands‑on support to resolve production or product issues when they arise.
  • Always work safely and in line with health, safety, and environmental (HSSE) legislation and company policy.
  • Report unsafe conditions or behaviours, contributing to a proactive safety culture.

Standard Entry Requirements

Standard entry for new employees applying directly from school: SQA Higher: BBCC including Maths, plus Nat 5 English at

C. We accept selected Foundation Apprenticeships, in combination with SQA Highers, for entry to our degree programmes. Your Foundation Apprenticeship will take the place of one SQA Higher qualification for our standard entry requirements and will be treated as equivalent to a B grade ‑Standard entry applicants with prior work experience and professional qualifications there is a possibility to be considered through the university’s flexible entry system through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

This process allows prospective graduate apprentices to claim credit(s) against previously assessed and certificated learning, including informal learning, to be considered and recognised for academic purposes and credit within their programme.
