We are searching for an experienced Transportation Planner at our Salt Lake City, UT facility.
Position Summary:
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound transportation activities to ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective delivery of company products. This role manages carrier scheduling, shipment tracking, and transportation documentation while serving as a key point of contact between internal teams, carriers, and customers. The Transportation Coordinator supports daily shipping operations, resolves transportation issues, and ensures compliance with safety, product handling, and company transportation requirements.
Responsibilities- Coordinate daily inbound and outbound transportation activities
- Schedule shipments with approved carriers and logistics providers
- Monitor shipment status and proactively address delays, shortages, or delivery issues
- Serve as a point of contact for carriers regarding scheduling, routing, and delivery requirements
- Prepare and maintain transportation documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and delivery confirmations
- Ensure proper handling, loading, and securing of products to maintain product integrity during transportation
- Collaborate with warehouse, production, customer service, and sales teams to support shipment readiness and priorities
- Enter, update, and maintain shipment and transportation data in ERP and logistics systems
- Support freight cost tracking, carrier performance monitoring, and issue resolution
- Assist with freight claims, discrepancies, and damage investigations as needed
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Comply with all OSHA, and company safety policies, procedures and requirements.
- Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
- Attend scheduled safety training.
- Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed safety goals and plans.
- Recommend improved safety practices.
- Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
- Adheres to and ensures lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.
PRODUCT SAFETY AND QUALITY:
- Responsible for supporting and complying with the company’s Integrated Management System, which aligns with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (Health and Safety) standards.
- Promotes a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility by following established IMS procedures aligned with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two or more years of experience in transportation coordination, logistics, or shipping operations
- Experience working with carriers, freight providers, or third-party logistics partners
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Experience working with ERP or transportation management systems;
Infor experience preferred - Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative mindset with attention to detail
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- May be required to enter warehouse or dock areas
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as required
- Must have unrestricted visual and auditory capabilities to maintain a safe work environment.
- Work performed primarily in a warehouse and manufacturing setting with occasional exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
