** SUMMARY
* * As a member of the Snowbird Ski Patrol Trainee Program, you will be responsible for performing essential guest service and mountain safety functions. These include accident response and first aid, trail maintenance, hazard mitigation, mountain sweeps, lift evacuations, avalanche control, and explosives handling, all while promoting a safe environment for guests and employees.
** WHAT YOU’LL DO
*** Monitor slope safety daily by identifying hazards and erecting signs and barricades in accordance with Snowbird’s hazard marking policy.
* Proactively identify, report, and correct unsafe conditions throughout the mountain.
* Repair, maintain, and ensure operational readiness of patrol equipment, including signage, fencing, toboggans, ropes, rescue equipment, buildings, and snowmobiles.
* Provide emergency care and treatment to injured guests and employees.
* Accurately document patient care, incident details, observations, and investigative findings.
* Perform avalanche control using explosives and skiing techniques.
* Observe and enforce mountain policies related to unsafe skiing or riding, closed terrain, and avalanche danger areas.
* Deliver exceptional customer service by presenting a professional image of courtesy, efficiency, and competence.
* Respond calmly and professionally to emergencies, guest issues, policy violations, and crowd control situations.
* Learn and maintain working knowledge of all material contained in the Snowbird Ski Patrol Handbook, which outlines program standards, procedures, and expectations.
** WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
** Required Qualifications
* Ability to ski all off-trail terrain at Snowbird confidently and safely in all weather and snow conditions.
* Must be at least 21 years of age.
* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
* Current CPR certification required.
* Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) Certification required (or ability to obtain within the required timeframe).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with guests and coworkers while maintaining positive working relationships across all Snowbird departments.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with supervisory staff and Mountain Dispatch regarding assignments, priorities, and task completion.
Experience & Mountain Knowledge
* Prior ski patrol, emergency response, or outdoor industry experience strongly preferred.
* Knowledge of Snowbird’s terrain and mountain layout is an advantage.
* Working knowledge of, or ability to learn, the safe and effective use of: + Two-way radios and communication protocols + Small hand tools and electric and gas-powered tools + Rescue equipment, including snowmobiles, ropes, transceivers, toboggans, and chairlift evacuation equipment + Medical equipment, including splints, backboards, and patient monitoring devices

* Ability to function calmly and decisively in first-responder environments, while maintaining professionalism, focus, and compassion for patients and team members.

* A commitment of three (3) consecutive years of full-time service is a condition of the Ski Patrol Trainee program.
