The University of Utah invites you to join our Information Security team as a Cyber Security Event Analyst. You will follow detailed operational processes to analyze and elevate critical security incidents.
Responsibilities- Monitor the SIEM for new alerts; investigate and elevate to senior staff as needed.
- Provide feedback on effectiveness of existing security rule sets.
- Perform and document operational tasks and compliance checks as required.
- Document event analysis and daily tasks in detail for hand‑over to other security personnel.
- Complete additional tasks as required.
Associate’s degree in a computer–related field and two years of experience (or equivalent; one year of education may substitute for two years of work experience). Demonstrated computer skills, strong human relations, and effective communication are required.
Preferences- Basic understanding of enterprise networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching).
- Familiarity with coding and database languages.
- Firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
- Windows, UNIX, Linux, macOS operating systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
