This is a part time position generally working approximately 3 days per week 8am-4pm. Previous cake decorating experience preferred. Excellent customer service required.

$15.00 - $19.17 PER HOUR

GENERAL

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to maintain quality standards and product levels of all cake products in the bakery. This person will be mixing, baking, assembling and decorating cakes, receiving and storing product, and providing exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
• Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services the bakery provides
• Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the bakery
• Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying particular attention to ad items
• Ensures the bakery is cleaned and sanitized daily and meets the company standards for appearance
• Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
• Follows production sheets to ensure appropriate inventory levels of Harmons’ cakes
• Mixes, bakes, assembles, and decorates cakes for sale and to keep as back-stock, quickly and efficiently
• Decorates cakes for sale and for custom orders
• Make frosting to be used for cake decorating
• Communicates openly and frequently with Store Director and Bakery Manager

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

A high school diploma or GED preferred; one year of pastry and/or cake decorating experience preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Must enjoy working with and handling bakery products
• Should have a passion for pastries and other bakery items and enjoy eating them
• Ability to read and follow a recipe
• Basic math skills used to half or double recipes
• Knowledge of baking, setting, and assembling procedures and times for pastries
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures
• Excellent organization and planning skills
• Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with customers and fellow associates
• Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success as well as the success of your team
• Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized techniques
• Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmons’ mission and commitment to working collaboratively
