The APC in the Division of General Surgery, Surgical Intensive Care Unit provides care to critically ill patients, most of whom are post-op or trauma patients. The provider works in a 12-bed SICU alongside residents, medical students, APC students, fellows, and faculty attending physicians. The department values Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) and supports collaboration with physicians as well as independent practice.
Opportunities exist for education, research involvement, and participation in quality improvement projects.
- Provide bedside care of critically ill patients in a 12-bed Surgical ICU.
- Perform procedures as needed, based on training and proficiency.
- Participate in team meetings, education conferences, and contribute to SICU APC and resident call schedules; pursue opportunities for research and quality improvement projects.
- Collaborate with multiple team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Minimum:
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah. - Utah prescriptive privileges.
- National Certification (as required for NP) and Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalent; current NP licensure.
- Preferred: ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS certifications may be required by department or privileging criteria.
- Immunization per CDC standards and hospital policy; exemptions may apply for medical or religious reasons.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
- Critical care experience preferred but not required; inpatient experience preferred.
