Job SummaryThe NP/ APRN role provides specialized care and treatment to high-risk surgical patients seen in an outpatient presurgical clinic, both independently and supervised by an anesthesiologist MD. This role sees these high-risk patients in person, performs histories and physicals, and evaluates for cardiopulmonary disease, frailty, anemia, malnourishment, diabetes, and anesthesia specific concerns like airway placement. Other work includes coordination of care and ordering labs for basic optimization, and followup of referrals and studies.
Learning and understanding basic management of key risk factors for poor surgical outcomes is necessary. Individuals with experience in/around operating rooms, in perioperative medicine, family practice, oncology, or internal medicine are preferable.

Required Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
