Position: Saw/Machine Operator - SWINGS - 3PM START

Overview

The Machine (Warehouse) Operator performs a variety of functions in order to stage, load, unload and cut material, including Saw and Crane operation and maintenance. Operators must be able to stock and maintain warehouse inventory in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities
  • Process work orders with attention to detail to identify potential discrepancies.
  • Cut steel using various sized saws in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Read tape measures and micrometers to ensure cuts are done properly thus minimizing cutting time and material waste.
  • Manage fluid levels (e.g., cutting and hydraulic oils) and perform additional preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Operate a forklift to load cutting tables and restock material.
  • Move materials in the warehouse using an overhead crane.
  • Observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Individual must be able to perform the duties of other job functions as determined by the supervisor, as needed.

  • Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous Machine Operating experience preferred.
  • Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
