Production wood furniture frame cutting

Overview

chop saw operator is responsible for precisely cutting lumber and wood products to specified lengths and angles for manufacturing and placing them on carts for furniture frame mfg.

• Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and maintain manual or automatic chop saws (miter saws) to achieve precise cuts.
• Measurement & Layout: Interpret cut lists to determine exact dimensions. Use tape measures, cto verify woodstock before and after cutting.
• Quality Control: Inspect raw lumber for defects like knots or cracks and ensure finished pieces meet strict quality standards.
• Maintenance: Perform routine machine care, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or dull blades.
• Material Handling: Load, position, and secure woodstock onto the saw table; sort, stack, and move finished pieces to the next production stage.

  Proficiency with various saws (miter, circular, or cross-cut) and measuring instruments. Basic math skills are essential for calculating dimensions and minimizing material waste.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for 8+ hours, lift and carry materials weighing between 50 and 75 lbs, and work in noisy, dusty environments.
• Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to safety protocols, including the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and dust masks.

• Experience: a high school diploma or GED; or 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or woodworking environment..
